Adult Companion
Adult companion services: Non-medical care, supervision, and socialization provided to help an older adult work toward a therapeutic or community integration goal in their support plan.
Adult Companion Services
Our Adult Companion services are designed to support individuals in staying active, connected, and working toward their personal goals. Companions meet with the person either in the home or out in the community and provide gentle guidance, encouragement, and supervision.
Examples of what an Adult Companion can help with:
- Spending time together in the community, such as going to a movie, can help practice coping skills and reduce anxiety
- Attending events or outings to help decrease feelings of isolation
- Playing games or doing activities that support focus, coordination, or fine motor skills
- Offering reminders, cues, or step-by-step prompts to help the person complete tasks
- Assisting or supervising with simple chores like laundry, light cleaning, meal prep, and organizing
- Shopping together to work on budgeting or planning skills
Important:
Adult Companions can assist with household tasks only when those activities are part off a therapeutic goal or a community-integration goal. They cannot perform housekeeping or meal prep as their own separate service.
